So last night I made the bad decision of starting a new book. It’s a great book, started out fast! Definitely not a boring start, which I always prepare myself for. Needless to say, I read the first three chapters before I realized how late it was. Also, did I mention the book was scary? I knew it was going to be but I thought that surely it would have a slow start and I would be okay starting it at night. alone. by myself. It was scary, okay?
Today at work, I learned a lot! I counted in sections of ten, for a while. It’s hard to count to ten a bunch of times in a row. Don’t laugh, I’m serious. I found myself laughing a lot, at least.
I spent most of the day coordinating TwoBrightLights and ShootQ. It was a small struggle because I want to watch the tutorial videos, but.. the laptop I’m working on there doesn’t support… videos? or Adobe Acrobat? so.. I’ll have to do that on my ‘at home’ work time. I’m very excited when I actually have a handle on it… I think it will be fun to be blogging and tweeting and such, but right now it’s the boring catch up part where I coordinate everything that hasn’t been touched in years.
Then I sat in on an engagement shoot. We were supposed to do two shoots today, one for the Christmas card I mentioned, and the other the engagement shoot. Well the Christmas Card was cancelled, the little boy got sick. The engagementee’s show up and I went to the meeting, and I learned about a lot.
- First things first, they talked about the schedule for the day of the wedding.
- How the shoots were going to go
- What specifically they wanted
- If there were special details that needed to be captured (separate for every couple)
- Then I learned that sometimes the bridal portrait sessions are often done AFTER the wedding. That way there’s no stress, you’ve already gotten married, and, you don’t have to worry about the dress getting dirty, and no one will know! Also, the groom can be a great prop =)
Here’s something I noticed:
- The bride did almost all of the talking
- The groom was cute (they both were gorgeous) but he mostly nodded and made sure the bride was getting what she wanted
- The groom was super attentive in making sure the bride didn’t fall in her heels etc etc (they were adorable to watch and observe)
The shoot was cut short by a massive monsoon that opened up from the heavens. So we rescheduled to finish up next week after a session for senior portraits.
